The close

Power lines, dry verge, the hotel frontage set back from the kerb.

If the GPS wants a shopping strip, ignore it. Stay on the close until the turning circle. The entrance canopy is dark metal; the verge goes straw-coloured by March. We are not a tour desk. There is no harbour view from here, and we don’t pretend there is.

The drive

Concrete under the canopy. Glass doors, downlights, one marked bay.

Dry grasses in the planter at the edge of the slab. If you arrive after dark, the canopy lights stay on — not a neon strip. Keys are at the timber desk inside — blank pages, a beige handset, no lettered tags.
